North Houston Homeschool Co-Op in the News

A local homeschool co-op we are considering using was on the news last fall. A bit of a debate between two men and the newscaster follows.

Interesting. At least the public school administrator wasn't totally negative...though it's rather ill-informed of him, knowing he was coming on the show, to say that he "thinks" homeschooled kids don't perform better on standardized tests. All he had to do was a tiny bit of research to learn the truth. And it's also rather offensive that he says that only kids in "failing" public schools might benefit from homeschooling. There's a lot more to education than academics...and many of us don't like the brand of academics in the public schools, even if it's "high quality."

From Jackie with spam links removed:

"totally agree with Tina. I think this is the type of junk reporting that feeds the homeschooling myths to unknowing folks. People are spoon fed bad info without ever taking time to actually discover the truth. Then they wonder why homeschoolers get tired of defending themselves. Joyfully, Jackie, a blogging homeschool Mom

I am sorry you felt I had spam links in my sig., definitely not my intention. One link was to my personal blog and the other was to one of my favorite sites that happens to be a free site to use for spelling and vocabulary practice.

Again, sorry if I offended you in any way.

Hi Jackie,
Links to your blog are fine but not disguised.

Feel free to leave a link to your blog any time you want but just please say what it is.

I am getting a lot of links to a certain homeschool for-fee "curriculum" website who pays people to leave comments on homeschool blogs and to embed hidden links to their site. That is not good or fair. If ads are to be on my blog I want to be the one getting paid.

Certainly understand your situation better now. I was not aware of folks being paid to leave links. Maybe I'm missing out on something. LOL I tend to use a cutesy sig line. Sorry about that. My blog is
