On the Nightstand and Breakfast in Bed

In a hat tip to one of my favorite blogs, Mental Multivitamin, I am sharing my nightstand with the books I've been reading this week. Also seen is my Moleskine brand garden journal.

The photo was taken the day before Mother's Day while kids were making me my Mother's Day breakfast one day early since church attendance interferes with big breakfast makings on the actual day.

Seen in photo is freshly squeezed orange juice made with a 1950's (manual) juice squeezer my paternal grandmother got as a freebie for some promotion but never used, the thing is fantastic and rivals anything made in factories today. It is served in a glass she owned but never used. She packratted away so many things she never wanted or used that family members or that charity thrift shop customers are now enjoying.

As I waited for my breakfast-in-bed to arrive I read books and enjoyed the sound of birds chirping outside my bedroom window.

Here is the view out my bedroom window, taken in the evening a few days earlier. I love this view of the woods, the rock wall, the climbing hydrangea going up the White Oak tree and the Wild Dogwoods with white blossoms.

My sons were so proud of their work that they sat right next to me and watched me eat the whole thing!

Mothering is the hardest job I've ever done but it is rewarding!
